- Died: 28 Oct 1868, Doddinghurst aged about 72
There is a christening entry for Stapleford Abbots. The only problem with this is it shows only a father as John Littlechild, and no mother mentioned. This is just for info.
The wedding of 1819 into the Lagden family is probably a good move, as they are quite a well-off bunch of farmers. See Sarahs brothers for a good example of the levels of wealth.
In 1847, John is shown as the occupier of Brook Meadow, Doddinghurst; plus (part) of Alder Field, Stub Wood, Pound Field; a house, orchard and garden abutting on Pound Field,; Upper Meadow, Barn Field, Brook Field, Upper Meadow, Peppers Meadow, Upper Brook Field, Underwood, Long Springs, Lower Ley, Upper Ley, an Orchard, Round Springs, Bond Field, and Thistley Field.
In 1851, John is aged 54, a Farmer, allegedly born in Navestock and living at Wishfields in Kelvedon Common with his family
In 1861, John is a widow and a farmer at Wishfields, Doddinghurst. He is aged 64. Still living with him is his son Richard and a servant Mary Bull.
John dies seven years later at Doddinghurst, in 1868.
His son Richard appears to continue to farm Wishfieds after his death, as he is the son who continues to live at the farm in 1861.
John married Sarah Lagden, daughter of Henry Lagden and Sarah Martin, on 10 Jun 1819 in Doddinghurst. (Sarah Lagden was born on 25 Nov 1792 in Doddinghurst, christened on 23 Dec 1792 in Doddinghurst and died on 19 Feb 1856 in Doddinghurst.)
