Full acknowledgements go to Stephen Littlechild for all my family tree of the Littlechild family before about 1780. I was getting there, but in the wrong direction!
According to Stephen, this is where the Doddinghurst Branch started. I have just found the son William born in Epping, in 1792, and became a little confused, so I re-read Stephens book 'The Littlechild family in the Eighteenth century'. It explains that William and Rose were married in Good Easter, where she came from, then set up farm in Epping for a while, before moving on. His son, John, was baptised in Stapleford Abbots, and he moved to a larger farm in Doddinghurst helped by an inheritance for his wife, Rose, of £67 from her father.
William married Rose Batt, daughter of Daniel Batt and Mary Booty, on 27 Feb 1785 in Good Easter. (Rose Batt was born about 1756, christened on 29 Aug 1756 in Good Easter and was buried on 30 May 1825 in Doddinghurst.)
