  General Notes:

In 1871, aged 2, living in Naughton Road, Elmsett with parents.
In the 1881 census he is aged 6 and living with all the family in Martlesham, so this suggests a birth of 1875. This is incorrect, as the 1871 puts him and Edward as the same age.
In the 1991 census he is shown as aged 22, the same age as Edward !!
In the 1901 census, James is 33 and a general labourer in Hackney
