According to the 1871 census for Epping Green, she is a widow by 1871, aged 36 and born in Abbots Roothing. Also with her in 1871 are two nephews, a William Littlechild, aged 8, and an Alfred Mansfield aged 4 (born Nazeing).

Emma married William Littlechild, son of William Littlechild and Elizabeth. (William Littlechild was born about 1829 in Epping and died before 1871.)
