Joseph shows as aged 40 in the 1841 census for Roxwell, tyhis is a rounded figure and can actually mean anything. I have searched the entire Roxwell parish register for him and Sarah white, his wife and come up witha blank for this age.
There are two possibilities for Joseph, either add him to a parent who was having children in this era, eg James and Elizabeth, but then they had a Joseph in 1820, and this Joseph is havin children by 1828, so this is wrong. The other suggestion is look a little earlier, and there is a Joseph christened in 1787, so he would be 54 in 1841. What I actually want is a Joseph between these two.
Joseph shows as aged 57 in the 1861 census, he is now married to Lucy. They marry in 1859, both widows. His father in the marriage is mentioned as Jonathan, who I believe is the Jonathan who marries Elizabeth in 1793, in Writtle.
Joseph married Sarah White, daughter of James White and Sarah Wright, on 27 Nov 1827 in Roxwell. (Sarah White was born about 1809, christened on 7 Apr 1810 in Writtle and died in 1851.)
