In 1861, he is 16 and living with his parents in Noak Hill.
In 1891 he is married and living in Crown Street, Brentwood - a dairyman - milk.
From the birth places of their children, it appears they were in Mile End in 1875, at Greenwich, Kent about 1879-79, then at Lambeth around 1881-82, Bermondsey in 1886 and back in Brentwood by 1888.
In 1901, he is a general shopkeeper in Crown Street, Brentwood, aged 55 and born in Hornchurch. His wife, Mary, and three children, Walter, Susie and Ethel are still living at this address.

Ernest married Mary. (Mary was born about 1851 in Marsh Chappel, Lincoln.)
