Susanna and her husband, John William Northfield and their 7 children left Stow-cum-Quy in 1849 for America. Two more children would be born in the United States. The family first settled on a farm in what now the heart of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1863, they trekked to Minnesota, settling in Lake City, Wabasah Co. Minnesota.
Susanna married John William Northfield, son of William Northfield and Mary Parmenter, on 10 Feb 1835 in Stow-cum-Quay. (John William Northfield was born on 15 Mar 1815 in Stow-cum-Quay and died on 20 Mar 1867 in Belvidere Goodhue Co. Minnesota.)
