In 1871, he is a labourer in the Royal Gunpowder factory, in Waltham Holy Cross. He is with his wife and children and next door to parents George & Ann, on the census.
In 1881, still employed at the Royal Gunpowder factory, in Waltham Holy Cross; aged 44
David married Mary Ann. (Mary Ann was born about 1843 in Waltham Abbey.)
