William is aged 22 in the 1851 census, born in Saffron Walden. He is living with his wife Emmaline and parents in law, in Castle Street, in 1851
By 1861, he is now shown as born in Littlebury. He does not show up in 1841 in either census. They are now living in Castle Street next door to Emmalines parents.

William married Emma Lagden, daughter of Francis Lagden and Susan, on 24 Dec 1849 in Saffron Walden. (Emma Lagden was born in 1830 in Saffron Walden.)
